Voice Lessons for Joy, Presence and Freedom

After decades of singing, I'm still discovering how much freedom comes from returning to the fundamentals. Breath, posture, resonance, and ease are lifelong companions, not boxes to tick. I continue to study them myself, and I enjoy sharing what I'm learning with others.

More than singing lessons

I believe that finding your voice is about more than learning to sing well.

Of course, technique matters. Breath, posture, resonance and healthy vocal habits create a voice that is stronger, freer and more expressive. These are skills I continue to study and practise myself, and I'm passionate about sharing them with others.

But I've also discovered that our voice reflects something much deeper.

Many of us carry fear, self-consciousness or anxiety. We hold our breath. We make ourselves smaller. We worry about getting it wrong or being judged. Singing has taught me that when we learn to breathe, relax and trust ourselves, something begins to shift—not just in our voice, but in the way we meet life.

That's the space I hope to create.

A place where you can learn good vocal technique while also discovering greater ease, confidence and presence.

Why this matters to me

I've been singing for many years, and like many people I've also experienced periods of deep anxiety. Throughout my life I've found that music, mindful attention and a deeper spiritual understanding have helped me return to a place of steadiness and joy.

Those experiences have shaped how I teach.

I don't claim to have all the answers. I'm still learning, still refining my own voice, and still discovering how much freedom comes from returning to the fundamentals—both in singing and in life.

I'd love to share that journey with you.

My approach

In our lessons, we’ll explore the voice as a doorway into greater awareness — of your breath, your body, your emotions, your listening and your own unique way of expressing yourself.

Yes, you’ll learn the practical skills that help you sing with greater ease, freedom and confidence. But along the way, you may also discover that conscious breathing helps you feel more grounded, that listening closely helps you become more present, and that finding your voice can be an unexpectedly powerful way of finding yourself.

There’s no “perfect” voice to uncover here. Just your voice — and the joy of getting to know it.

Breathing — just breathe
Learn to breathe with awareness, ease and intention — supporting your singing while also giving you simple ways to return to presence and feel more regulated.

Pitch Accuracy — just listen
Develop pitch accuracy by learning to truly listen: to the notes, to the spaces between them, and to the subtle sensations of your own voice. Over time, this builds both musicality and trust in your inner ear.

Tone & Resonance — just sing
Explore resonance, tone and vocal colour without trying to force yourself into someone else’s idea of what a “good” voice sounds like. What happens when you allow your own sound to emerge?

Vocal Range — just believe
Gently explore your vocal range, meeting higher and lower notes with curiosity rather than force. The aim isn't simply to sing more notes, but to become more comfortable at the edges of what you believe is possible.

Confidence — just trust
Learn to let yourself be heard, make mistakes, experiment, express emotion. Taking up space, expressing yourself honestly, and trusting that your voice is worth sharing.

Joy — just play
Because singing doesn't always need to be something we work at. We'll make space for play, experimentation, silliness, beauty and the simple pleasure of making sound. Sometimes that's where the most beautiful learning happens.

Lessons are relaxed, one-on-one sessions held in my home studio in Brisbane. We go at your pace, on your schedule. No exams, no grades, no audience — just me, cheering you on.

You don't need a "good voice" to begin.

You simply need a willingness to explore.

My hope is that you'll leave each lesson not only singing with more freedom, but feeling more connected to yourself, more relaxed and more present to life.
